Anderson Knight is currently recruiting a Senior Buyer for one of our clients based in Bathgate.
As the Senior Indirect Buyer, you will be managing the sourcing, negotiation, and supplier relationship management of non-core business categories, including services, IT, marketing, facilities, HR, and professional services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process for indirect categories, including identifying needs, sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier relationships.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for indirect spend that align with organisational goals and achieve cost savings.
- Lead sourcing initiatives for a variety of categories, including IT, marketing, professional services, and other indirect spend areas.
- Negotiate commercial terms and conditions with suppliers to ensure favorable pricing, service levels, and contract terms.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders across various departments (HR, IT, Finance, Legal, etc.) to understand business requirements and deliver tailored procurement solutions.
- Drive supplier performance management and ensure suppliers meet agreed-upon performance, delivery, and quality standards.
- Conduct spend analysis and identify cost-saving opportunities, while also ensuring compliance with procurement policies and sustainability initiatives.
- Oversee the preparation of procurement reports and provide regular updates to senior management on category performance, savings, and supplier developments.
- Ensure procurement best practices are followed, and that procurement activities align with organisational standards, regulatory requirements, and corporate social responsibility goals.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as an Indirect Buyer or Senior Buyer, with a focus on non-core categories (e.g., IT, HR, facilities, marketing, professional services).
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills with the ability to drive value in indirect spend categories.
- In-depth understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, and sourcing strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyse spend data, identify opportunities, and drive cost-saving initiatives.
- Experience working with procurement systems, ERP, or sourcing platforms.
- A degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred. CIPS or other procurement certifications are a plus.
- Experience in the multiutility sector or a similar regulated environment is an advantage.
