Randstad is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join our specialist setting in Batley, where we provide tailored support for children with SEMH needs. As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing individualized care and guidance to students, helping them thrive in their educational journey.This role is a temporary position starting in November 2024 and lasting until July 2025, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the life of a student with SEMH needs.

Role and Responsibilities:

- Work closely with a designated student, providing one-on-one support and assistance in accordance with their individual Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP).

- Foster a supportive and nurturing relationship with the student, building trust and rapport to facilitate their emotional well-being and academic progress.

- Implement strategies and interventions to support the student's social, emotional, and behavioral development, promoting positive coping mechanisms and self-regulation skills.

- Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to develop and implement personalized learning objectives and activities tailored to the student's needs and abilities.

- Monitor the student's progress and engagement in learning activities, providing feedback and adapting support strategies as necessary to maximize their potential.

- Assist the student with activities of daily living, including personal care, mobility support, and sensory regulation, as required.

- Maintain accurate records of interventions, progress, and observations, ensuring compliance with safeguarding procedures and confidentiality requirements.

- Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals involved in the student's care, fostering a collaborative and holistic approach to support.

Requirements:

- Hands-on experience aiding children with special educational needs and disabilities within the UK.

- Proficiency with the UK curriculum is essential.

- Possession of an Enhanced Child DBS.

- Ideally, a background in education or relevant qualifications.

- A deep understanding of supporting children with additional needs and the patience to navigate a SEN environment effectively.

- Recognition of the uniqueness of each child, necessitating personalized support and learning strategies.
