Facilities Technician

Location: Bedford

Salary: Up to £35,000 DOE

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Shifts: Rotating 6-week pattern covering 24/7 operations

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading manufacturing client in Bedford for a Facilities Technician to join their team. This role is integral to the success of the facility, providing critical support for the manufacturing area through the continuous operation of key services from the central plant room and service areas.

The Facilities team plays a vital role in ensuring uninterrupted production and maintaining optimal performance of all site services, including the operation of a state-of-the-art fabrication manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain all plant and service equipment to a planned maintenance schedule, ensuring peak performance.
  • Operate and maintain the site’s de-ionized water plant.
  • Troubleshoot and repair systems to sustain site services and maintain production levels.
  • Implement plant modifications to support new processes, technologies, and techniques.
  • Undertake capital projects to expand capacity, enable new products, and meet environmental standards.
  • Handle electrical/mechanical breakdowns, perform installations, and provide mechanical support when needed.
  • Document processes and procedures to retain and share knowledge effectively.

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum BTEC Level 3 qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Proven expertise in electrical/mechanical engineering, including diagnosing and repairing faults.
  • Familiarity with facilities equipment such as pumps, pipe fittings, and de-ionized water systems.
  • Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
  • Strong electrical design skills, including wiring layouts and systems inspection.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, creative thinking, and a proactive approach to innovation.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
