About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Subject Lead of Business to lead and manage the Business department at a thriving secondary school in the Bedford area. The successful candidate will drive the development of the Business curriculum, ensuring that all students receive high-quality education, while supporting and inspiring staff within the department.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Business department, ensuring the delivery of engaging and effective lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Develop and implement a forward-thinking Business curriculum, reflecting current trends and practices in business education.
  • Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning to ensure the highest standards are maintained.
  • Support the professional development of staff within the department through mentoring, coaching, and regular performance reviews.
  • Analyse student data to track progress and develop strategies for raising attainment and achievement.
  • Manage the departmental budget and resources effectively, ensuring efficient use of materials and facilities.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to contribute to whole-school initiatives and policies.
  • Promote business-related extracurricular activities, such as enterprise projects and work experience opportunities, to enrich students' understanding of the subject.


Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Business or a related subject.
  • Experience in leading or managing a Business department or a related subject area.
  • Strong understanding of the Business curriculum, including recent trends and developments in business education.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire both students and staff.
  • Proven track record of raising student attainment and supporting staff development.
  • Organisational skills, with the ability to manage time and resources effectively.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.


Desirable:

  • Experience in developing extracurricular activities or enterprise projects.
  • A postgraduate qualification in education or business-related studies.
  • Experience with curriculum development and innovative teaching methods.
