Position Overview:

Our client Excelsior Land Ltd is a family-run, growing company specializing in construction, with a focus on low carbon and MMC residential schemes. Every project undertaken aims to reduce the environmental impact of the homes they build. As they continue to expand, they are seeking a dedicated Finance Manager to join their team, ideally an ACCA or CIMA finalist.

As Finance Manager, your responsibilities will include overseeing end-to-end finance operations, financial planning and analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and improving procedures and controls. You will also handle ad-hoc projects and requests as needed. The ideal candidate will have experience in cost accounting, CIS, and construction project accounting. This role is both varied and interesting, and they are looking for someone to join their entrepreneurial team as they continue to grow. The ability to work independently and collaboratively with both site and office teams is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing invoices and organizing payments through NatWest Bankline
  • Managing cashflow
  • Maintaining the general ledger and ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded
  • Monthly creation and processing of payroll, pension, and CIS
  • Monthly submission of VAT and other HMRC/regulatory payments
  • Management of Directors loans and staff expenses
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Responsible for month-end tasks
  • Project Support: Collaborate with the commercial team to provide financial insights and reports for ongoing projects
  • Producing financial reports for senior management
  • Monthly management accounting, including the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
  • Balance sheet reconciliation, creditor, and debtor reports
  • Liaising with external accountants/auditors and assisting in preparation for year-end accounts
  • Assisting in the compilation of annual budgets for overheads and monitoring the budget against actuals for projects
  • Implementing and maintaining internal controls to safeguard company assets

Qualifications/Experience:

  • ACCA or CIMA finalist
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry
  • Proficient with Xero accounting software
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
