Roofing Estimator
Our client is a leading, third-generation family-owned business specialising in roofing, construction, and building solutions across the UK. With over 50 years of experience, they have become one of the largest specialist contractors, trusted by clients in various sectors, including education, healthcare, heritage, and commercial projects.
This company offers a wide range of services, from flat and pitched roofing to solar PV, heritage restoration, full-scale refurbishment and new build construction
They are currently looking for talented Flat & Pitched Roofing Estimators to join the team at their Bedford head office.
Core Office Hours:8 am 5 pm (1 hour lunch)
Key Responsibilities:
- As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate estimates and supervising the work of junior estimators.
- Mentoring and enhancing the skill set of Junior Estimators
- Develop detailed estimates for a range of tenders, that may include a variety of non-roofing elements, as part of the clients full scope of works.
- Collaborate with a team of surveyors to interpret tender documents, issue high-quality sub-contract inquiries, and evaluate quotations to ensure compliance with client requirements.
- Attend site visits with Surveyors during the tender stage and with the Projects team during the delivery stage, though the role is primarily office-based in Bedford.
- Utilise your understanding and experience in various trades to contribute effectively.
- Exhibit a keen analytical eye and attention to detail.
- Report to the Estimating Director.
- Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- You will be an experienced flat or pitched roofing Estimator on refurbishment or new build schemes.
- Proven experience in pricing projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting and explaining estimates to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success in delivering competitive tenders.
- Valid driving licence.
- DBS (to be obtained by the Company).
