We are seeking a dedicated Lawyer with expertise in SEN Education to join our team, providing a range of public sector and not-for-profit clients with professional and innovative legal services. This role involves handling complex Special Educational Needs and education matters, ensuring legal compliance and protecting client interests.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Manage a caseload of complex SEN Tribunal cases with minimal supervision.
  • Undertake advocacy in case management and final hearings in the first-tier SEND Tribunal, and instruct counsel as needed.
  • Identify and manage risks associated with SEN legal practice.
  • Attend client liaison meetings to discuss ongoing cases and ensure service quality.
  • Act as a point of contact for various cases, including taking instructions, giving advice, preparing applications, drafting documents, and providing representation in courts or tribunals.
  • Develop and deliver legal training to clients in specific areas of law.
  • Support the management team in building and maintaining client relationships and ensuring compliance with SRA and practice management requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and mentoring of colleagues within the Litigation Team.
  • Perform additional duties within the scope of the role as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified Lawyer with experience in SEN Education law.
  • Proven ability to manage complex legal cases independently.
  • Strong advocacy skills with experience in SEND Tribunal hearings.
  • Excellent research, application preparation, and document drafting skills.
  • Ability to provide comprehensive legal advice and representation.
  • Experience in client training and development in legal skills and law areas.
  • Familiarity with SRA regulations, practice management, and accreditation schemes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
