Purchasing coordinator

My client is recruiting for a detail-oriented and technically proficient Purchasing coordinator to join our team. Reporting directly to the Sales Director, you will play a crucial role in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for air ventilation products. You will be responsible for analysing project requirements, producing quotations, and supporting customers with technical queries.

As a key part of our Sales team, you will build strong customer relationships, assist in securing new business, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our order processing.

To excel in this role, you must have previous experience in a similar position and possess an advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office. A professional demeanour, strong analytical skills, and excellent attention to detail are essential.

Benefits :

Work-life balance: MondayThursday (8:00 am 4:30 pm), Friday (8:00 am 12:00 pm).

Annual leave: 20 days, increasing with continuous service.

Pension: 5% employer contribution after enrolment.

Life assurance: 3x gross annual salary after probation.

Bonus scheme: Discretionary annual bonus (3% of total company profit shared equally among employees).

Key Responsibilities:

Review and interpret customer specifications, drawings, and requirements to generate accurate cost estimates.

Provide competitive and detailed quotations tailored to customer needs.

Work closely with engineers, project managers, and suppliers to ensure precise material and labour cost calculations.

Identify the best product or service solutions based on technical specifications, quality, and cost.

Prepare tenders, proposals, and technical documentation within customer deadlines.

Follow up on quotations to secure profitable orders and maintain strong customer relationships.

Offer technical support and problem-solving expertise to assist customers with product selection and application.

Ensure estimating processes are efficient, accurate, and continuously improved.

Support sales efforts by providing detailed cost analysis and recommendations.

Estimating Coordination:

Log customer inquiries accurately in our CRM system and manage them efficiently.

Process all estimates and proposals in Sage, ensuring all relevant documentation is completed.

Provide clear and professional customer acknowledgments within two working days.

Monitor project progress and provide timely updates to customers.

Communicate any changes in project scope, costs, or timelines proactively.

Key Attributes:

Strong analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail.

Self-motivated with a commercial mindset and a proactive approach to estimating.

Experience in cost estimation, ideally within manufacturing or HVAC industries.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
