Morgan McKinley, Northern Home Counties are proud to partner with a leading manufacturing company based in Bedford, looking for an Accounts Assistant to join their finance team.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day financial operations and ensuring the accurate management of financial records.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain and update purchase ledger, ensuring accurate invoice codings

Manage purchase orders and ensure approvals are sought for non-PO invoices

Maintain sales ledger and ensure accurate invoice codings.

Handle the addition and removal of assets from the financial asset register.

Assist with the financial asset register

Assist with month-end close duties, including balance sheet reconciliations and forecasting.

Update and reconcile the bank account with the Finance Manager.

Support in updating daily cash forecasts.

Prepare bi-weekly payment runs and distribute remittance advices.

Assist with payroll duties and other finance-related tasks as needed.

Assist the Office Manager

Ensure timesheet systems are up to date and maintain contact details in Xero.

Perform additional ad hoc duties

Person Specification:

Previous experience in a finance/accounts role, ideally in a manufacturing environment.

Familiarity with Xero, ApprovalMax, and finance software.

A solid understanding of VAT.

Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

Ability to manage time effectively and work independently.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
