Role Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented Design and Technology Teacher to join a well-regarded secondary school in Bedford. This is a fantastic opportunity for a creative educator to inspire students at Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach at Key Stage 5, depending on experience. You will have the chance to deliver engaging lessons that promote both the creativity and practical skills needed to succeed in the ever-evolving world of design and technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching: Teach Design and Technology at KS3 and KS4, with the potential for KS5 teaching for more experienced candidates.
  • Lesson Planning: Plan and deliver dynamic lessons that inspire students, enabling them to develop both practical and theoretical understanding of Design and Technology.
  • Student Assessment: Regularly assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to help students improve their skills, understanding, and exam performance.
  • Curriculum Development: Work closely with the Design and Technology Department to create a curriculum that incorporates contemporary design trends and new technologies.
  • Resource Management: Ensure effective use of resources, tools, and materials in a safe and well-organised manner, in line with health and safety requirements.
  • School Engagement: Contribute to departmental meetings, school initiatives, and maintain a positive and collaborative school culture.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Design and Technology (or a closely related field) and have experience teaching the subject at KS3 and KS4. While experience at KS5 is desirable, it is not essential. We are looking for someone with a passion for design, the ability to engage students in creative tasks, and a commitment to developing their skills for success.
