Brook Street is seeking a Court Usher for an exciting opportunity with a prominent public sector client in the Legal Sector.

Location: Expected to work across two sites Mid & South East Northumberland Magistrates and North Tyneside Magistrates. Mid & South East Northumberland Magistrates and North Tyneside Magistrates.

Contract: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 37 hours per week

6 month assignment until March 2025, possibility of extension but not guaranteed.
Duration: Until the end of March 2025
Pay Rate: 11.44 per hour

Note: An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.

Role Overview:

We are looking for a proactive Court Usher to support the efficient operation of court proceedings at Teesside Crown Court, with occasional assignments at other sites as needed. This role involves assisting in the delivery of the legal and justice system, ensuring the smooth running of court hearings, and providing essential support to all court attendees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist court clerks by creating precise court log reports
  • Usher and support vulnerable adults and children to the appropriate hearings
  • Take initiative to complete tasks based on hearing outcomes without needing explicit instructions
  • Communicate effectively with Legal Advisors, Judiciary members, and the public
  • Maintain and update system databases and records
  • Perform general administrative duties as required

Ideal Candidate:

  • Resilience in handling potentially distressing information
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to manage challenging situations
  • Effective prioritization and planning abilities
  • A transferable DBS on the update system is highly advantageous
