IT Security Officer

We are excited to offer an opportunity for a dedicated IT Security Officer to join our experienced IT team. This role is pivotal in providing effective cyber security support to both the IT team and the broader organisation. You will lead routine IT security tasks, monitor IT security systems and portals, and be responsible for implementing the organisation’s Cyber Security Strategy. Additionally, you will continuously review and implement IT security policies and procedures, ensuring best practices and compliance across all operations.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Monitor, maintain, and administer existing IT security platforms including SIEM, XDR, MDM, Cloud VPN, and Antivirus.
  • Develop, implement, and routinely review IT security policies and strategies.
  • Manage incident response planning and threat vulnerability management processes.
  • Provide IT security support and advisory functions to the IT team and organisation.
  • Work with Information Officers to provide an Information Security function.
  • Ensure compliance with the Supplier Assurance Framework and maintain Data Loss Protection standards.
  • Support cyber and information security training for staff.
  • Build partnerships with external service providers and develop reports for the IT Manager and Senior Management Team.
  • Stay updated on new cyber security threats and manage security testing of the IT estate.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Higher National Diploma or Degree level qualification in an IT-related discipline.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification or higher.
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs grades A-C (including English Language and Maths) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in managing IT security systems, incident response, and vulnerability management.
  • Ability to draft reports and dashboards on IT security posture for non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in providing IT security advice and conducting policy reviews to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with IT security service providers and professional bodies.
