MRD Recruitment is working on behalf of our leading Logistics client, who are recruiting a Transport Manager, based in Bellshill. The Transport Manager, based in Bellshill, will report into the Operations Director and will manage their growing number of contracts and clients.

The successful candidate, based in Bellshill will have previous experience overseeing a small to mid-size fleet and a strong background with compliance and health & safety.

Key Responsibilities for the Transport Manager, based in Bellshill:

  • Oversee the Management of planning, organising and supervising the activities and resources of the business area.
  • Leading a small to mid-size team of Drivers and management of the depot.
  • Dealing with Key Contacts within our current customer base.
  • Identifying peaks and troughs within the Business Area and identify areas of improvement.
  • Identifying any areas that are underperforming and put in place profit or performance improvement plans.
  • Meeting on a regular basis with office staff to ensure the team are operating as efficiently as possible.
  • Continuous improvement, identifying and developing areas where we can add value to existing contracts.
  • Experience in planning and implementation of new contracts and operations.
  • Performing 1-2-1's on a regular basis with direct reports.
  • Conduct annual PDR interviews with direct reports.
  • Monitoring and auditing Health and Safety and compliance.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must be a National CPC holder, International would be desirable.
  • Previous experience of working within the 3PL transport industry or haulage industry.
  • Have a good understanding of legal compliance, driver's hours and WTD regulations.
  • Strong Leadership Skills.
  • Track record of leading successful change.
  • Strong evidence of management skills and making key business decisions.
  • Strong influencing skills both internally and externally.
  • Strong analytic ability in review data and reports.
  • Capability to advise and motivate team to deliver results for the business.
  • Ability to present to Senior stakeholders within the business and to external customers.
  • Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • IT literate including MS Office.
