Plant Fitter
Hours:Full Time

We are looking for an experienced, hardworking and professional plant fitter to join a growing team in a waste and recycling environment processing C&D waste. We are looking for static and mobile plant fitters, and a knowledge of both would be desirable.
Mobile plant, we operate loading shovels, waste handlers, skidsteer loaders, mobile shredders and forklifts.
A strong working knowledge of these machines, hydraulic systems and attachments is essential, as we operate a busy yard in which we need to maximise uptime. In shift inspections of machines are carried out to rapidly identify any issues which may cause a breakdown. You will be required to be open and upfront with plant operators and management about the state of machines. Any breakdowns must be repaired at the earliest possible opportunity, and a well organised approach to repairs and maintenance, to ensure operations of the yard are not interrupted too far, must be employed.
Static plant, we have one of the largest and most modern MRFs in the country, installed in 2023.
Solid experience with vibrating screens, air separators, magnets and conveyor systems, safe guarding and knowledge of safe working procedures is essential. Again we are busy company that is always growing, so uptime must be maintained. Losses of items such as bearings and belts due to poor maintenance will not be tolerated, and you will direct the labour team in basic housekeeping tasks.
Welding, and particularly hard-facing, experience is also highly desired.
A flexible approach to hours will need to be taken, as in the event of breakdowns, out of hours repair is often required, but overtime is paid, so you will be rewarded.
You will need to have a reasonable commute, as we know that long journeys home after a long day can be difficult to manage long term, and we expect diligent time keeping.
You will be required to be physically fit and capable of heavy lifting in an active environment.
All maintenance paperwork, which we expect to be kept accurate and up to date, is completed via tablet or telephone app, so some IT knowledge is required.
We operate to strict health and safety procedures, and as a senior member of the team you will be expected to be a role model and assist with the enforcement of safe working practices, proper use and care of plant and machinery, and wearing of correct PPE.
As mentioned above, you will be part of team of fitters covering mobile and static plant, and also HGVs, container and electrical maintenance. You will be expected to assist your team members where you are able and provide absence and holiday cover.
