A supportive NFP organisation is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Sole Payroller to take full ownership of our in-house payroll function, processing monthly payroll for approximately 250 employees using Sage 50 Payroll.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process end-to-end monthly payroll for 250 employees accurately and on time
  • Maintain and update employee records including starters, leavers, and changes
  • Calculate statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP) and deductions
  • Ensure compliance with current HMRC legislation and RTI submissions
  • Process pension contributions and liaise with pension providers
  • Generate payslips, P45s, and year-end reports including P60s
  • Respond to employee payroll queries and provide timely resolutions
  • Liaise with finance team for payroll journal entries and reconciliations

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in end to end payroll processing, ideally in a similar-sized organisation
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements
  • High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively

Desirable:

  • Experience with pension auto-enrolment and benefits administration
  • Proven experience in a sole payroll position, ideally in a similar-sized organisation
  • Proficient in Sage 50 Payroll
  • Payroll qualifications (e.g., CIPP) would be advantageous
