A supportive NFP organisation is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Sole Payroller to take full ownership of our in-house payroll function, processing monthly payroll for approximately 250 employees using Sage 50 Payroll.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process end-to-end monthly payroll for 250 employees accurately and on time
- Maintain and update employee records including starters, leavers, and changes
- Calculate statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP) and deductions
- Ensure compliance with current HMRC legislation and RTI submissions
- Process pension contributions and liaise with pension providers
- Generate payslips, P45s, and year-end reports including P60s
- Respond to employee payroll queries and provide timely resolutions
- Liaise with finance team for payroll journal entries and reconciliations
Requirements:
- Proven experience in end to end payroll processing, ideally in a similar-sized organisation
- Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements
- High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively
Desirable:
- Experience with pension auto-enrolment and benefits administration
- Proven experience in a sole payroll position, ideally in a similar-sized organisation
- Proficient in Sage 50 Payroll
- Payroll qualifications (e.g., CIPP) would be advantageous
