We are currently recruiting for a CAD Designer to join our client based in Suffolk as a land / waterscape designer. They are a successful contractor who have years of experience designing and constructing a range of water-based projects across the UK, from lakes and reservoirs to wetland creation, desilting existing lakes and constructing / restoring rivers.
This role would suit a CAD Technician with a background in Landscape Architecture, Civil engineering, hydrology and an interest in waterscape design.
Duties to include:
CAD Technician / Designer
- Desktop acquisition of OS mapping and LIDAR data to prepare land surveys
- Produce CAD drawings and Civil 3D models in coordination with Project Managers
- Provide quantitative information based on designs
- Produce construction stage details
- Help develop company standard details
Permitting
- Prepare range of planning and permitting documents and drawings
- Make submissions and produce required documentation or acquire information as required by consultees (typically ecology, archaeology, hydrology and structural engineers)
- Work through details of relevant permitting to achieve approval
Further Development
- Working on the production of tender packs and tender applications,
- Assisting in the design and manufacture of water control features (pipe penetrations, penstocks, bridges and weirs etc) through preparation of CAD files which are loaded onto the CNC machine in the workshop.
Essential Skills / Attributes
- Proficient at CAD
- Good literacy skills
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel etc)
- A rigorous attention to detail
- Self-motivation and ability to problem solve
- The ability to work both unsupervised and as part of a team, and the desire to make a positive contribution to the company.
- Good time and task management skills.
- An interest in landscape and waterscape construction / manufacturing techniques and the process of their installation.
- Driving licence
