Imperial Recruitment Group are delighted to be recruiting for a Lead Electrical Engineer on Contract basis for a leading Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) company specializing in the design, development, and delivery of complex projects across various industries.

  • Job Type: Full-Time

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management:

  • Oversee the electrical portfolio of work, including resource planning, project progression, and earned value analysis.
  • Lead electrical engineering projects from concept to completion.
  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Develop assignment scopes of works, identify deliverables and produce concise proposals.
  • Coordinate with cross-disciplinary engineering teams, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Support business development efforts and promote departmental growth.

Design and Analysis:

  • Design and review electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, and control systems.
  • Perform electrical calculations, load analysis, and system studies (ETAP experience is advantageous).
  • Ensure all designs adhere to relevant codes, standards, and regulations.

Technical Leadership:

  • Report directly to the Engineering Manager.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to the electrical engineering department.
  • Review and approve technical documentation, drawings, and specifications.
  • Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices.

Procurement and Construction Support:

  • Assist in preparing technical specifications for procurement.
  • Evaluate and select suitable electrical equipment and materials.
  • Offer technical support during the construction phase, including site visits and inspections.
  • Provide commissioning advice and allocate manpower support to clients.

Quality Assurance:

  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures for electrical engineering activities.
  • Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and troubleshooting support to ensure high standards of quality and accuracy.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (preferred) or 10 years for
  • experience in a similar role.
  • A minimum of 12-14 years of experience in electrical engineering, ideally within the EPC industry or as an Operator Engineer.
  • Proven track record in managing projects and leading engineering teams.
  • Experience in high hazard and COMAH facilities is essential.

Technical Skills:

  • A minimum of 3 years of ETAP/SKM experience is desirable. Ability to evaluate power system fault level and co-ordination studies.
  • Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., ETAP, Trimble Amtech, AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Experience with HV/LV power distribution, motor control, UPS systems, static and power earthing systems, small power, lighting, and equipment for use in hazardous environments.
  • Knowledge of arc flash studies and rise of earth potential studies is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with applicable design standards (e.g., BS, IEC) and COMAH regulations is essential.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
