This is a brilliant opportunity to join a well-established services business in Birmingham City Centre, just a short walk from Birmingham New Street. This role has become available due to internal project work, with a team member stepping away temporarily, creating the need for additional support. Covering both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, this role is perfect for someone looking to gain well-rounded finance experience in a supportive environment.

You'll be involved in a variety of key finance tasks, from bank reconciliations and invoice processing to cash allocation and resolving queries across both the accounts payable and accounts receivable teams. This position is initially a 9-month temporary contract, but depending on business needs, there is a chance it could become permanent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing invoices and payments across accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Completing bank reconciliations and ad-hoc reconciliations.
  • Supporting the credit controller with query resolution to ensure payments are collected.
  • Allocating cash and resolving discrepancies.
  • Assisting with supplier and customer account queries.
  • Supporting the finance team with general administrative tasks.

Candidate Attributes and Skills:

  • Some exposure to finance (6-12 months), such as a placement year, apprenticeship, or recent graduate experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with suppliers and customers.
  • Able to work independently and within a team.
  • Immediately available or on a short notice period.
