RM Recruit are pleased to be partnering with a reputable not-for-profit organisation based in Birmingham, who are seeking a confident and articulate Assistant Accountant to join their team on a part-time, temporary basis for approximately 4-5 months. The role requires 18.75 hours per week, spread across Monday to Friday. Our client offers the flexibility of remote working, with a requirement for office attendance once per month.
In this role, you will support the Finance Business Partner and budget holders in providing an effective, value for money service.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist in the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and process prepayments, journals, and accruals.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations
- Support the budget planning and forecasting process.
- Participate in budget meetings, providing relevant financial data and insights.
- Maintain accurate financial records and assist with audit preparation as required.
- Provide general accounting support as needed by the finance team.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors on relevant audit work.
- Assist in preparation of reports to the Executive Team and the Group Board.
- To represent the Finance team and Group at external meetings as required.
Person Specification:
- Previous experience in an accounting role, ideally with knowledge of month-end procedures.
- Strong understanding of prepayments, journals, accruals, and budget management.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Dynamics, or similar) and MS Excel & Power BI.
- Attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to participate in budget meetings and communicate financial information effectively.
