Job Overview:

The Compliance Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring that all recruitment processes adhere to the highest standards of safeguarding, compliance, and legal requirements. You will manage the vetting and compliance procedures for candidates, ensuring they are fully cleared and compliant before placement. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail and a passion for maintaining standards in education recruitment.

Key Responsibilities:

Compliance and Vetting:

  • Conduct thorough pre-employment checks, including right-to-work documentation, references, DBS checks, qualification verification, and other safeguarding requirements.
  • Ensure all candidate records are kept accurate, up-to-date, and in line with GDPR regulations.
  • Regularly review and update compliance processes to align with changes in legislation and industry standards.

Safeguarding and Legal Requirements:

  • Maintain a strong understanding of safer recruitment practices and legal requirements for working in schools.
  • Ensure all candidates meet the standards set by the Department for Education (DfE) and other regulatory bodies.
  • Liaise with schools and local authorities to ensure safeguarding and compliance requirements are consistently met.

Team Support and Reporting:

  • Support the recruitment team by providing guidance on compliance-related matters.
  • Prepare regular compliance reports for senior management.
  • Ensure efficient communication with candidates regarding their compliance status, resolving any issues promptly.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • Experience in compliance, recruitment, or administration, ideally within the education sector.
  • Knowledge of safer recruitment practices and safeguarding regulations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with candidates and schools.
  • Proficiency in using IT systems and databases to manage records efficiently.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of education-specific compliance requirements, such as DBS checks and safeguarding training.
  • Experience working in an education recruitment or HR setting.
