Astute's Renewables team is partnered with an electric vehicle (EV) charge point installer and independent connection provider (ICP) who have a large order book and diverse client base across the UK. We're looking to recruit a Field Service Engineer to carry out commissioning, maintenance and repair of EV chargers around the Midlands,

The Field Service Engineer role comes with a salary up to 38,000, plus company van, fuel card, overtime and excellent company benefits.

Responsibilities and duties

As the Field Service Engineer you will:

  • Perform routine maintenance to keep EV chargers operating efficiently.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and software issues.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests, firmware updates, and replace faulty components.
  • Install, configure, and test Rapid DC, Ultra, and HPC EV chargers at client sites.
  • Ensure chargers meet industry standards and function correctly.
  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate charging stations with existing infrastructure.
  • Provide on-site technical support and training to clients.
  • Respond promptly to service requests and maintain clear communication.
  • Document all service activities, repairs, and customer interactions.
  • Follow all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Ensure compliance with local electrical codes and industry standards.
  • Attend regular safety training and certifications.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • NVQ Level 3 electrical qualification or equivalent.
  • 18th Edition, or 2391 test and inspection certifications desirable.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and technical manuals.
  • Awareness of electrical hazards and on-site health and safety requirements.
  • Experience in EV charging, renewable energy, or power electronics, desirable.

Personal skills

The Field Service Engineer role would suit someone who is:
