We are working with a leading consultancy in the water industry that is seeking a Principal Civil/Structural Design Engineer to join their dynamic team in Birmingham. This is a hybrid role, offering a balance between office collaboration and remote flexibility.

About the Role:
As a Principal Civil/Structural Design Engineer, you will play a key role in leading the design and delivery of major water infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for managing a team of engineers and designers, ensuring that projects are completed to the highest technical and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of civil and structural engineering solutions for water industry projects.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers.
- Manage and oversee project delivery, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and client specifications.
- Conduct structural assessments, feasibility studies, and risk evaluations.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and methodologies.
Key Requirements:
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent qualification).
- Chartered Engineer (ICE or IStructE) preferred.
- Extensive experience in civil/structural design within the water industry (e.g., water treatment works, pipelines, pumping stations).
- Proficiency in structural design software such as STAAD, TEDDS, or similar.
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience working in a consultancy environment is highly desirable.
