We are seeking an experienced Plant Quality Lead to join our dynamic team at a leading automotive plant in Birmingham. The ideal candidate will play a key role in driving quality improvements across electric vehicle production, ensuring customer satisfaction, and leading quality initiatives to successful outcomes.

About the Role
As the Plant Quality Lead, you will be responsible for developing, administering, and executing programs that enhance product and process quality. You will work closely with various departments to resolve quality issues, improve first-time-through (FTT) rates, reduce scrap, and manage customer and supplier concerns. This role requires a strong presence on the shop floor, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead quality improvement initiatives to identify and resolve quality issues in EV production.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing and engineering to drive process improvements.
  • Use advanced problem-solving techniques (8D, 5 Why, PDCA, Shainin/RedX, etc.) to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct quality audits (internal, layered process, control plan) and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Engage with suppliers and customers to address and resolve quality concerns.
  • Provide detailed statistical analysis of service processes, recommend corrective actions, and lead scrap reduction initiatives.
  • Participate in special projects aligned with business objectives and support the Quality Manager in delivering key metrics.
  • Drive continuous improvement in quality systems, including reverse FMEA and warranty issue resolutions.



Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Quality Management Systems, or a related field (preferred but not essential).
  • Minimum 2+ years in the automotive industry.
  • Knowledge of Zeiss Calypso software and CMM operation/programming is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, planning, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively across all levels of the business.
  • Certifications: Six Sigma Green Belt certification is preferred.
