Gleeson are excited to be partnering with an amazing retail business based in the Birmingham City Centre to support them with an upcoming project within their finance team. This business have recently started expanding their products to the wholesale market and this has resulted in a massive increase in invoices and other finance related tasks. As a result this business are needing to bring someone in on a temporary basis to support with the increased demand within the team.

This role will be looking after predominantly purchase ledger tasks, however the day to day of this role can be quite broad while you support in a range of other areas such as sales ledger, treasury, management accounts, analysis, etc.

This role is expected to be a temporary role for 6 months at this stage, however what is really exciting about this role is that if this growth pattern continues, the business are open to converting this position to permanent.

Key responsibilities:

  • Processing a high-volume amount of invoices, matching these invoices with purchase order numbers.
  • Reconciling supplier statements.
  • Resolving invoice queries.
  • Assisting with costing reviews on a quarterly basis.
  • Reviewing aged creditors and working with the Head of Finance to reduce these.
  • Liaising with the Head of Finance to review invoices that could be posted as accruals and prepayments, chasing details when information is missing.
  • Supporting with other areas such as sales ledger, treasury, management accounts, analysis, etc.
  • Other ad-hoc support to the Head of Finance.

Candidate Attributes and Skills:

  • Have previously worked within an Purchase Ledger role, with a minimum of ideally 12 months.
  • Have the opportunity to take on an exciting, in depth amount of Purchase Ledger experience which will provide exposure to more senior responsibilities - allowing you to grow!
  • Be someone who sees themselves as a team player who is eager to chip in to get a joint task done.
  • Be immediately available, or on a short notice period (one week) as this role is needing to begin quite quickly!
