Hays are working with a local council to recruit an Energy Research Assistant on an interim basis. This role will support the next steps of communicating the Regional Energy Strategy.

You will be helping to build a detailed picture of energy and net-zero activities across the West Midlands, providing data analysis to ensure the work is supported by robust evidence. You will source and work with publicly available data, as well as data provided by our partners, to enhance our understanding of the region's energy system. You will help to present data in innovative ways that provide a foundation for our region's strategic narratives.There will be the opportunity to provide support from the Energy Capital team to find out more about the main programmes of work covering Energy Infrastructure, Retrofit and Policy, including trailblazer net-zero devolution for the West Midlands. You will also be able to connect with other researchers in the WMCA, including in the Environment team, to find out how energy fits into the wider work of the WMCA..This is an excellent opportunity for anybody looking to explore the possibility of a career in research.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct data collection, analysis, and interpretation related to energy within the West Midlands region.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and visualisations to communicate findings, recommendations, and progress on energy-related initiatives to diverse audiences.
  • Support outreach and engagement efforts to raise awareness about energy-related issues and initiatives amongst community stakeholders, businesses, and residents.
  • Liaise with stakeholders and project partners as relevant for the above responsibilities, keeping a record of project progress and ensuring successful delivery of the tasks.
  • Provide weekly updates to the Energy Capital team on your progress.
  • Provide ad hoc support to Energy Capital team members as required around research, events, briefings and meetings.
