Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Manager with strong leadership skills to join our Accounting Services team.
You will play a crucial role in overseeing the Accounting Services department whilst maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Not only will you manage the day-to-day accounting operations but also assist with the guidance and training to the accounting team.
The role requires a strong leader with excellent people skills, technical expertise, and the ability to balance client service with internal team development.
The ideal Accounting Services Manager should have a solid understanding of accounting principles, exceptional analytical skills, and a proven track record of effectively leading a team, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
Accounting Services Manager - The Role:
- Provide strong leadership, managing a diverse team, with a mix of senior and junior staff, including apprentices.
- Work closely with Assistant Managers to ensure smooth day-to-day accounting operations.
- Oversee professional development opportunities for team members.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Assist clients with accounting software set up/other general issues.
- Ensure accurate preparation and timely submission of quarterly VAT returns, overseeing the process and supporting the team in assisting clients.
- Collaborate with other departmental teams to support accurate financial recording and reporting.
- Analyse internal financial data and trends, providing insights and recommendations for improving financial performance.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance department efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide support during tax preparation and other regulatory reporting.
- Support the Accounting Services Partners in strategic financial planning and decision-making.
- Assist in special projects and initiatives as needed.
Accounting Services Manager - to be considered, you will need:
- ICAEW or ACCA full qualification.
- Previous experience in leading and managing accounting teams, (exposure to the medical sector desired but not essential).
- Strong technical accounting expertise with the ability to apply accounting principles in reviewing complex financial reports for accuracy, compliance, and adherence to regulatory standards.
- Proficient in various accounting softwares and MS Office, with advanced Excel skills.
- Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with colleagues, clients, and third parties. Must demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
