Wellbeing Operations Manager
Location: Hybrid – You will be required to go onsite, in and around Council-operated facilities
Contract:Â Full-time, initial 6-month contract with potential extensions up to 2 years
Rate:Â Negotiable, Inside IR35
Start Date:Â April 2025
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Wellbeing Operations Manager to lead the operational management of the Council’s Wellbeing Centres and Hubs. This role will focus on driving service transformation, modernisation, and continuous improvement while ensuring excellent service delivery across the remaining council-operated leisure facilities.
This role is part of a strategic initiative to transform and enhance the service offering while maintaining a focus on budget efficiency. You will work closely with the Head of Service, supporting the development of a forward-thinking approach to community wellbeing, sport, and leisure management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the operational management of Wellbeing Centres and Hubs, ensuring high-performance service delivery
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to achieve “best in class” standards
- Oversee and support facility managers in their day-to-day responsibilities
- Line manage staff, conducting regular performance discussions and annual appraisals
- Foster a customer-focused culture, implementing mechanisms to collect and respond to feedback effectively
- Manage the in-house Technical Services Team to ensure facilities are maintained to an acceptable standard, including statutory testing and inspections
- Support the delivery of key programmes in collaboration with the Programme Manager
- Work within budgetary constraints while identifying areas for service transformation and efficiency
Key Requirements:
- Operational experience in a leisure or wellbeing facility setting
- Local government experience
- Proven experience in operational facility management within the leisure industry
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of successfully leading and developing staff teams
- Experience in managing service transformation and modernisation
- Ability to work flexibly in a hybrid model, with site visits across multiple facilities
