Fire Stopping Technician

Salary: £30,500 - £38,000 (DOE)

Overview:

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Fire Stopping Technician to join a leading team specialising in fire safety compliance. This role is responsible for the installation, inspection, and maintenance of fire-stopping systems, ensuring adherence to fire safety regulations and the integrity of passive fire protection solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

      Install fire-stopping materials, including fire-rated sealants, boards, and coatings on walls, floors, and penetrations.

Conduct inspections and assessments of fire-stopping systems to verify compliance with relevant building regulations and fire safety standards.

Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and fire safety reports.

Carry out remedial works to rectify non-compliant fire-stopping installations.

Maintain comprehensive records of work completed, including photographic evidence and compliance documentation.

Collaborate with technicians and other team members to ensure efficient project completion.

Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including the proper use of PPE and risk assessments.

Provide recommendations for improving fire-stopping systems where necessary.

Participate in training and development programmes to stay up to date with the latest fire-stopping techniques and regulations.

Essential Requirements:

      Minimum of two years' experience in fire stopping.

Proven background in fire-stopping installation and/or passive fire protection.

Hands-on experience with batt, mastic, fire barriers, and compound applications.

NVQ Level 2 in Passive Fire Protection.

Familiarity with fire-stopping products from manufacturers such as FSi, Rockwool, Firefly, and Nullifire.

Ability to work at heights and within confined spaces.

Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow technical specifications accurately.

Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Full UK driving licence (if required for the role).

Desirable Qualifications:

      ASFP Level 2 or 3 qualification in Fire Stopping.

IPAF, PASMA, SSSTS certifications.
