Opportunity to join the tech team ofaBirmingham based menswear brand as a Garment Technologist.
Garment Technologist primary responsibilities:
- Independently able to check samples against tech pack, measure samples and confidently communicate comments back to the factory
- Offering advice on fabrics and trims for suitability of garments and design
- Advising on and approving care labels
- Responding to product related queries, both internally and from customers
- Ensuring production follows the critical path
- Overseeing fabric testing and fittings of samples
- Making sure internal systems are up to date
- Building & maintaing relationships with suppliers.
Garment Technologist required skills:
- Strong understanding of manufacturing, textiles, garment construction, seam construction, pattern cutting and garment cycle process
- Technical knowledge of fabrics/trims and threads, gained preferably within a fast paced commercial or supplier environment
- Ability to convey technical information to factories in a clear concise way
- Competent in use of MS Office programs such as Excel & Word
- Exceptional eye for technical detail to ensure quality standards are upheld
- The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience across woven & jersey, preferably in menswear
- Strong grasp of spoken & written English with excellent communication skills
- Ability to convey technical information clearly in layman's terms
- Ability to work independently
- Flexible approach to be able to adjust to changing needs of the business
- Highly organised with good prioritisation skills
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Keen interest in Fashio n / Men's Fashion & Textiles
