Opportunity to join the tech team ofaBirmingham based menswear brand as a Garment Technologist.

Garment Technologist primary responsibilities:

  • Independently able to check samples against tech pack, measure samples and confidently communicate comments back to the factory
  • Offering advice on fabrics and trims for suitability of garments and design
  • Advising on and approving care labels
  • Responding to product related queries, both internally and from customers
  • Ensuring production follows the critical path
  • Overseeing fabric testing and fittings of samples
  • Making sure internal systems are up to date
  • Building & maintaing relationships with suppliers.

Garment Technologist required skills:

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing, textiles, garment construction, seam construction, pattern cutting and garment cycle process
  • Technical knowledge of fabrics/trims and threads, gained preferably within a fast paced commercial or supplier environment
  • Ability to convey technical information to factories in a clear concise way
  • Competent in use of MS Office programs such as Excel & Word
  • Exceptional eye for technical detail to ensure quality standards are upheld
  • The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience across woven & jersey, preferably in menswear
  • Strong grasp of spoken & written English with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to convey technical information clearly in layman's terms
  • Ability to work independently
  • Flexible approach to be able to adjust to changing needs of the business
  • Highly organised with good prioritisation skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Keen interest in Fashio n / Men's Fashion & Textiles
