We are now looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Engineering Technician to join our dynamic team, supporting the delivery of engaging engineering lessons and practical activities for our students.

Job Overview:
As an Engineering Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the teaching and learning of engineering subjects within the school. You will assist with the preparation, maintenance, and operation of engineering equipment and resources, ensuring the safe and effective delivery of practical lessons. You will also take small groups of students and teach the lesson to them when required. You will work closely with teaching staff to ensure that all resources are readily available and that students have a hands-on learning experience that enriches their academic studies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and maintain equipment for engineering lessons, including tools, machinery, and materials.
  • Deliver engagaing sessions.
  • Assist teaching staff in delivering practical demonstrations and activities.
  • Maintain health and safety standards in the engineering workshops, ensuring equipment is safe to use and regularly serviced.
  • Organize and maintain engineering resources and materials, including stock control and ordering supplies.
  • Provide technical support during lessons, helping students with practical tasks and troubleshooting equipment issues.
  • Assist in the development of new teaching materials and resources.
  • Support students in their use of engineering tools and techniques, ensuring they follow safety protocols.
  • Help with the management of workshop space, ensuring it remains clean, organized, and safe.
  • Liaise with teaching staff to ensure curriculum requirements are met.

Skills & Experience:

  • A background in engineering or a related technical field (e.g., mechanical, electrical, or product design).
  • Previous experience working as a technician in an educational or workshop environment (preferred but not essential).
  • Strong understanding of health and safety practices in technical environments.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work well with students and staff.
  • Proficient in the use of various engineering tools, machinery, and software.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
