Contract Duration: 9 MonthsHays is collaborating with a local council to recruit a Public Liaison Officer. This is a new role within the council, aimed at supporting the delivery of transport projects for the West Midlands, including Rail, Metro, Sprint, Cross City, and a new transport interchange for Dudley.Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver a community liaison function for rail delivery projects, reporting directly to the Strategic Communications and Engagement Manager.
  • Work closely with contractor teams to ensure swift responses to any issues arising.
  • Collaborate with the wider engagement team and delivery colleagues to understand potential impacts, responding proactively before issues arise.
  • Lead communication activities with local stakeholders, including businesses, road users, residents, and the wider public.
  • Advocate for local communities and stakeholders.
  • Support the wider engagement team in delivering community and stakeholder engagement activities.Ideal Candidate:
  • Prior experience in a liaison role.
  • Experience working with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to engage with members of the public.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
  • Experience with local media operations.
