Technical Manager - Construction

Role Overview
As a Technical Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the pre-construction phase of projects, ensuring technical compliance, design feasibility, and smooth project handover to the delivery teams. Working closely with bid teams, estimators, planners, and design managers, you will provide expert technical guidance to streamline project workflows and mitigate risks before construction begins.
Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership: Provide expert advice on buildability, construction methodologies, and technical challenges during pre-construction.

Design Coordination: Collaborate with design teams, consultants, and architects to review technical drawings, ensuring compliance with regulations and feasibility for construction.

Risk Management: Identify and address potential risks related to planning, design, and materials before construction begins.

Value Engineering: Work closely with estimators and procurement teams to assess cost-effective solutions and alternative construction methods.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure designs and construction plans meet current building regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.

Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure technical requirements align with project goals.

Innovation & Sustainability: Promote sustainable construction practices and identify opportunities for integrating modern methods of construction (MMC).

Handover to Delivery Teams: Ensure seamless transition from pre-construction to on-site execution, providing technical briefings and addressing any outstanding queries.
Key Requirements

Proven experience in a Technical Manager, Design Manager, or Pre-Construction Manager role within a construction company.

Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building regulations, and industry standards.

Experience working on commercial, industrial, and residential projects.

Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and structural reports.

Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, BIM, or other relevant design software is advantageous.

Degree or HNC/HND in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
