SHE (Safety, Health & Environment Manager) REQUIRED ON PERMANENT BASIS IN WEST MIDLANDS FOR A MAIN CONTRACTOR

I am assisting my client with an exciting opportunity for a SHE Manager to join a leading main contractor. The business undertakes projects in various sectors including Commercial, Education, and Leisure projects, with values ranging between 10m and 30m.

As SHE Manager you will be responsible for managing projects to ensure their safe completion, in accordance with programme, specifications, and budget.

Salary: 55,000 - 65,000 + Package

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct audits on SHE standards and ensure compliance with safe working practices across active projects.
  • Serve as a SHEQ Advisor to support the safe execution of live construction projects.
  • Assist with internal training programs, such as asbestos awareness, as required.
  • Stay updated on health, safety, and environmental legislation, maintaining compliance standards.
  • Investigate accidents across live projects and produce detailed initial reports.
  • Develop new toolbox talks, best practice information sheets, and collaborate with stakeholders.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide monthly reports to Directors when necessary.
  • Communicate with HSE, EA, LA, and insurance brokers regarding incidents, following discussions with the SH&S Manager, EHS & Ops Manager, and SML Directors.
  • Maintain records of accidents, incidents, and near misses to calculate AIR and AFR metrics.
  • Support the bid team in responding to SHEQ-related queries.
  • Contribute to the company's social value initiatives.
  • Engage with subcontractors to address and improve poor performance.
  • Compile documentation for CHAS and other third-party accreditation bodies.
  • Assist with crisis management efforts.
  • Aid in the development of project-specific SHEQ documents, including CEMPs, CPHSPs, and Fire Plans.
