Job Summary:
Skilled Careers are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Document Controller to join a Residential developer in Birmingham City Centre.  The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all documents are accurately recorded, tracked, and archived, adhering to established guidelines and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with various teams to ensure smooth access to the necessary documents while maintaining confidentiality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the flow of documents within the organisation, including filing, retrieval, and archiving.
  • Ensure all documents are accurate, complete, and compliant with company policies and industry standards.
  • Maintain electronic and physical filing systems to support efficient document retrieval.
  • Monitor the status of documents and ensure timely approvals, updates, and distribution.
  • Coordinate with project teams to ensure the correct version of documents is used.
  • Assist in document control audits to ensure regulatory and internal compliance.
  • Implement document management systems and processes, including naming conventions, metadata, and indexing.
  • Support the team by training and advising staff on proper document control practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information and documents.
  • Perform regular checks and audits on document systems to ensure consistency and accuracy.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Document Controller, or similar role in a relevant industry (e.g., construction, engineering, legal, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of document management systems (DMS) and office software (Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, etc.)
  • Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritise tasks.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and proactive in addressing challenges.
