SEND Teaching Assistant

Bournville, Birmingham (B30) | £90 -£105 | Long-Term to Permanent | ASAP Start

Long Term Futures is looking for a compassionate and experienced Teaching Assistant to support in KS2 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and behavioural needs in a supportive and inclusive mainstream school in Bournville. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in a child's life by providing tailored educational and emotional support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with ASD, focusing on managing behaviour and supporting their academic progress.
  • Implement strategies from the pupil's Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) and adapt learning activities to meet their specific needs.
  • Assist with behaviour management and ensure the safety and engagement of the pupil throughout the school day.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SEN staff, and parents to monitor progress and update support strategies as needed.
  • Utilise Manual Handling or Team Teach training to manage challenging behaviours safely and effectively.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with ASD and behavioural challenges is essential.
  • Relevant qualifications and Manual Handling or Team Teach training are required.
  • A patient, empathetic approach and strong behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the school team and adapt to the pupil's changing needs.
