Location - Acocks Green Position - SEND Teaching Assistant Type of work - Working with SEND in mainstream settings Contract or position start date - ASAP Duration - Ongoing Contract or position end date - Ongoing Contract type - Temporary Full time/part time - Full time Minimum rate of pay - Negotiable Hours - 8:30 am - 3:30pm : Mon - Fri (term time only) Role Overview:As a SEND Teaching Assistant in a mainstream classroom, you will support students with a range of SEND needs, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and Speech and Language difficulties, helping them to access the curriculum and engage fully in classroom activities. You will be working closely with both the class teacher and the SENDCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to deliver tailored support. Key Responsibilities:· Provide one-on-one or small group support for students with SEND, helping them to access the mainstream curriculum. · Assist in differentiating learning activities to meet the needs of SEND students. · Support students with behavioural or emotional difficulties by using positive reinforcement and tailored strategies. · Monitor and record student progress, sharing information with the teacher to adjust learning plans as needed. · Help with personal care and mobility for students where necessary. · Encourage social inclusion and assist with peer relationships. · Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENDCO, and other support staff. Key Requirements: · Experience working with students with SEND, ideally in a mainstream school environment. · Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent · Strong understanding of SEND and how it affects learning and development. · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. · A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to working with students with additional needs. · A DBS check (or willingness to apply for one). · A passion for education and helping students with SEND thrive in a mainstream classroom.
