Zest Education are currently recruiting a passionate and driven Teaching Assistant to join a committed team at a school based in Yardley Wood. You will be required to assist and support a Year 1 class on a full-time basis. You will be working Monday to Friday, 8:30am till 3:30pm.The position is expected to begin in January 2025, providing you with the opportunity to establish a lasting relationship with an incredible school.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • To work under the direction of the teacher, assist with the planning of lessons, prepare equipment and resources, and participate in training.
  • Watch over and assist students, including those with special needs.
  • Build positive rapport with students and engage with them in a way that best suits their needs.
  • Motivate the students to participate in group activities and teacher-led projects.
  • Encourage independence and self-worth while setting high standards.
  • Give the teacher thorough feedback on a regular basis.
  • Establish and keep a focused, organised, and encouraging atmosphere in compliance with lesson plans.
  • Encourage students to behave well.

You must:

  • Have relevant experience within an educational setting or working with children.
  • Own an enhanced DBS or be willing to obtain one.
  • A comprehension of good teaching techniques.
  • Have well-developed interpersonal skills - the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Be able to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
  • A genuine desire in helping children with educational aspirations.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
