Zest Education have a position available for a hardworking and dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant to join a lovely two-form entry school in Bournville, Birmingham. This role is part-time and is due to commence in January 2025. You will be required to assist in a Year 6 class three days a week (days can be arranged).

The school itself is dedicated to fostering inclusivity and diversity in order to bring out the best in each and every person. The ideal candidate should support the class teacher and motivate the children in their classwork as they prepare for their next step in education.

You will be required to:

  • Aid the classroom teacher in preparing lesson materials and displays in the classroom.
  • Effectively work with students to ensure they understand the task or work.
  • Assist students in acquiring the ability to learn independently.
  • Provide one to one support and small group support to children who require it.
  • Helping on school excursions, trips and events.
  • Motivate students to participate in class activities and engage with the class.
  • Promote good pupil conduct and encourage students to take responsibility for their actions.

You will need to have:

  • A good understanding of the Key Stage curriculum and child development.
  • Strong verbal communication and active listening skills to engage with students, parents, and colleagues/professionals.
  • True passion and commitment to working with children and helping them achieve.
  • Experience in a similar role or in an educational setting is essential.
  • Enhanced DBS check or the willingness to obtain one.
  • Good teamwork skills and be able to work collaboratively and independently.

The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
