About the Role:
As the Electrical Safety Engineering Manager for the Energy Division, you will play a pivotal role within the Central SHEQ Department. Your primary responsibility is ensuring that all staff working on or near electricity networks adhere to safety standards in line with company policies, industry accreditations (NERS), and client requirements. You will be instrumental in maintaining safety compliance, developing electrical accreditations, and enhancing processes to support operational excellence.

You will report directly to the Energy Division's Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality Director and collaborate across various teams to drive a culture of safety and operational competency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all staff are deemed operationally competent in writing for their duties.
  • Maintain and develop external electrical accreditations.
  • Manage and update policies and procedures for all electrical workstreams.
  • Develop new documentation and processes as needed.
  • Provide consistent support across the business to ensure competency in all electrical operations.
  • Represent the Energy Division at national forums such as:
    • Energy Network Association (ENA)
    • Lloyds Register NERS and NERSAP
    • National Skills Academy for Power (NSAP)
    • Association of Meter Operators (AMO)
    • Meter Operators Code of Practice Agreement (MOCOPA)
    • Drive business interests, including exploring new opportunities.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • HNC or equivalent (Degree level preferred)
  • Membership with the Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET)
  • Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status preferred
  • NICEIC accreditation
  • Safety qualifications such as NEBOSH
  • Strong operational experience, ideally within DNOs or similar organisations
  • Knowledge of Smart Metering and BS7671 regulations
  • Experience managing teams with a clear focus on safety
  • Understanding of power industry trends and challenges
  • Willingness to travel and stay overnight as required
