We are looking to speak to Energy Management professionals with a passion for optimising & reducing energy consumption, who have ambition to create, implement & manage an Energy Strategy for a leading UK business.

As Energy Optimisation Manager / Energy Strategy Manager, you will develop and implement an Energy Strategy, aimed at optimising energy usage and reducing energy consumption, introducing greener methods of energy production where possible, across building materials, construction and manufacturing plant facilities nationwide.

This role involves optimising energy usage, enhancing sustainability, driving cost efficiencies and identifying innovative solutions to generate greener energy and reduce energy consumption, working with internal and external contacts, such as stakeholders, senior management, middle management, procurement, supply chain, government bodies and energy providers, to achieve collective goals.

You will also have the opportunity to explore the benefits of using renewable energy sources, such as hydrogen, solar and wind power, suggesting strategy improvements for use of optimum energy. The successful individual will understand energy tariffs, report on energy performance, and navigate proposed government energy initiatives, working with external bodies to obtain funding for initiatives where possible. The role will also entail monitoring production hours, trialling optimum shift patterns, and evaluating the risk-reward of plant shutdowns.

Daily duties with include but are not limited to:

  • Developing, implementing and managing the company's energy strategy, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring energy optimisation and reduction across building, construction and material plants nationwide.
  • Exploring renewable energy sources to identify and research greener methods of energy production.
  • Ensuring sustainability, driving cost efficiencies and identifying innovative solutions wherever possible.
  • Working with internal and external contacts to ensure collective goals are achieved.
  • Reporting energy usage and understanding energy tariffs to identify optimum energy sources.
  • Understanding and researching proposed government energy initiatives, obtaining funding where possible.
  • Exploring technological innovations, monitoring production hours and trialling optimum shift patterns, exploring the risk reward of plant shutdowns and changes in work flow, to improve efficiencies.

Applicable candidates will ideally have:

  • Demonstrable experience developing and implementing Energy Optimisation or Energy Improvement Strategies to a large scale, within the Construction / Manufacturing / Infrastructure sectors (or similar).
  • A formal qualification, such as a degree, in Energy Management, Environmental Science (or similar).
  • A working understanding of Energy Management Systems, Net Zero initiative, regulations and frameworks, such as ISO 15001 standards, PAS, Carbon Reduction Plans, ESOS, SECR, TCFD, ISSB, EII and MinMet.
  • Have an understanding of different types of manufacturing and plant production facilities, with an appreciation of operational activities, cost management and energy performance.
  • A deep understanding of renewable energy technologies and upcoming government energy initiatives.
  • Knowledge of energy tariffs and connections with Energy Companies, able to report on energy performance.
  • Ability to work with a supply chain and procurement department to identify optimum energy sources. identify emerging trends and technological innovations.
  • A passion for sustainable solutions with a strategic mindset, ambitious to trial and push innovation.
  • Relevant Chartership in preferred but is not essential (CEI, CEM, CENG, ESOS, EMA)
