The Enterprise Architect (EA) in the technology team defines the strategy and roadmap for specific technology areas. The EA supports high-risk, complex IT workstreams by analysing business requirements, identifying gaps, and designing solutions that align with overall strategy and architecture.

The EA collaborates with senior business representatives and the technology leadership to understand sector needs, develop IT solutions, and ensure their successful delivery. The EA must also consider the business impact of solutions, maximizing the value of tools in their expertise. They are expected to be specialists in several technology disciplines with broad knowledge of emerging IT trends.

The EA for End User Services & Collaboration leads strategy, technology selection, and supports project implementation for End User Computing, Frontline workers, Operational Technology, and User Devices.

Structure and Reporting Relationship

The EA reports to the Head of Architecture & Strategy within the Enterprise Technology Office. They work closely with technology Leadership, Standard Service Technical Leads, Group Enterprise Architects, and Senior/Technical Delivery Managers to ensure solutions align with sector roadmaps.

The EA collaborates with technology directors and delivery partners to develop technology roadmaps that meet current and future business needs. They are responsible for managing their work within agreed frameworks, drawing on team support as needed.

Key Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with business representatives and IT teams to understand needs and design enterprise architectures.
  • Ensure compliance with strategy and architectural design in project implementation.
  • Provide architectural guidance to IT teams to align delivery with sector roadmaps.
  • Offer consulting and technical support on project implementation.
  • Communicate technical issues and IT strategies to stakeholders and IT professionals.
  • Develop and maintain technology roadmaps, ensuring they meet current and future needs.
  • Guide solution design activities to ensure timely project completion.
  • Review vendor proposals for alignment with roadmaps and compliance with standards.
  • Monitor external teams on IT projects as appropriate.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to solution architecture.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of modern IT infrastructure, applications, and cloud technologies.
  • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex technical details.
  • Expertise in End User Computing & Collaboration architectures, including compliance.
  • Flexibility and innovation in adapting to new technologies and designing solutions.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of security standards and best practices.
  • Ability to prioritize, work under pressure, and anticipate potential problems.
