Thanks to recent internal promotion, an international retail business is looking to appoint an assured and talented Commercial Finance Manager to strategically support UK operations, based primarily from its central finance function in Birmingham.
Working closely with senior management and leading a team of 4 qualified Analysts in a high profile role, you will provide accurate, meaningful and insightful information (to include sales & margin analysis, detailed business analysis and management information, forecasting and commentary, budget management, etc.) to adequately support and facilitate operational decision-making at a strategic level for this complex and fast-paced business. You will also be trusted to initiate projects to address any noted issues with performance or margin, ensuring that your department works effectively with the commercial and marketing teams in delivering identified solutions out into the business.
The successful applicant will be heavily involved with senior management across multiple departments, and will be viewed as a crucial member of the team that will help deliver a value-adding and commercially focused support to the operational staff in the relevant area.
Ideally, you will:
- Be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with notable achievements that highlight your commercial acumen, and where you have made a measurable impact on a business from a commercial finance standing;
- Have experience of providing financial support of a commercial nature to non-finance people, with proven experience of being able to quickly translate analysis into meaningful operational strategy
- Be able to demonstrate instances in which you have been able to add direct value to your business area through cost-saving initiatives, general business / reporting improvements and informing strategic business decisions
- Be an effective and assured leader of people
