We are seeking an Executive Director of Finance to ensure robust financial management and leadership at South & City College Birmingham. This pivotal role involves working closely with the Vice Principal, Principal, and Senior Leadership Team to oversee the strategic and operational management of the College’s finances.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and payroll team, aligning with our IAMSCCB values and fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Collaborate with the Principal and Senior Leadership Team to develop and implement robust financial plans.
  • Provide strategic financial advice and support to the College Management Team, ensuring solutions support organisational aims while adhering to good financial practice.
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, management accounts, and statutory returns.
  • Manage cash flow forecasts and produce financial reports for various committees and for grant applications.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and maintain high standards of financial governance and risk management.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of UK Further Education funding and financial management.
  • Significant experience (5+ years) in senior financial management roles, ideally within the education or public sector.
  • Proven experience in strategic financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Excellent IT skills with a strong understanding of financial systems and reporting processes.
  • Expertise in financial management, accounting standards, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging effectively with a range of stakeholders.
