Location: Birmingham

The Finance Manager will be responsible for providing accurate and timely financial information to assist management in making well-informed decisions.

This role will involve preparing management accounts, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, as well as supporting the business in achieving its financial objectives. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

Management Accounts:
* Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts.
* Analyse variances against budget and previous periods, providing insightful commentary and recommendations for corrective actions.
* Ensure all financial reporting is accurate, timely, and in compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

Budgeting and Forecasting:
* Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, working closely with department heads to understand financial needs and objectives.
* Monitor budget performance and update forecasts regularly, highlighting any potential risks or opportunities.

Financial Analysis:
* Conduct detailed financial analysis to support business decisions, including cost analysis, pricing strategies, and investment appraisals.
* Provide financial insights to support the development of new projects and initiatives, ensuring they align with the company's strategic goals.

Internal Controls and Compliance:
* Maintain and improve financial controls and processes to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
* Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, accounting standards, and internal policies.

Stakeholder Management:
* Liaise with internal stakeholders, including department heads and senior management, to provide financial advice and support.
* Prepare reports and presentations for board meetings and other key stakeholders.

Systems and Process Improvement:
* Identify and implement improvements to financial systems and processes to increase efficiency and support the growing needs of the business.
* Support the ongoing development and implementation of financial management software and tools.

Team Collaboration:
* Work closely with the wider finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting and smooth operation of the finance function.
* Provide support and guidance to junior finance staff, fostering a collaborative and positive team environment.

Team Management:
* Lead and manage the finance team, ensuring effective delegation of tasks and alignment with departmental goals.
* Provide coaching and mentorship to team members, supporting their professional growth and development.
* Conduct regular performance evaluations, offering constructive feedback to enhance team performance.
* Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.

Skills and Qualifications:

Essential:
* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
* Proven experience in a management accounting role, ideally within the housing sector, property management, or a similar industry.
* Strong technical accounting skills with a good understanding of financial reporting standards and regulations.
* Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with financial management software such as Xero.
* Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide clear recommendations.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
* Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Desirable:
* Experience working within the social housing sector or a similar not-for- profit environment.
* Knowledge of housing finance, including grant accounting and regulatory reporting.
* Familiarity with ERP systems or similar financial management tools.
