Fractional Finance Director | Waste Management SME | 1 day per week

The Client

Harmonic are delighted to be working with a leading independent waste management SME based in the West Midlands to find them a Fractional Finance Director (1 day per week) who can professionalise their finance function.

Our client has recently gone through an acquisition and installed new management who are looking to take the business to the next level. Currently with an annual revenue of £20m, they are looking to further establish themselves as a market leader in the area. Although having recently gone through significant changes, they still operate very much as a family-owned business and are looking for someone who fits well into their close-knit culture.

The Role

This role will entail the overall management and oversight of the businesses finance function, identifying improvements that can be made to financial processes, and involvement with commercial planning and strategy. This role will report directly into the new Managing Director and require someone to be on site in their West Midlands office 1 day per fortnight.

Responsibilities

  • Management of the finance function, including 2 finance managers.
  • Identify and implement improvements to financial processes.
  • Automate currently manual processes such as credit control.
  • Assist with monthly reconciliation process.
  • Involvement in commercial planning and strategy and identifying key KPI's.
  • Work with outsourced accountants to prepare group monthly accounts.

Essential Experience

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA,ACCA, CIMA)
  • Previous experience as a finance leader (FD, Head of Finance, or CFO).
  • Prior experience professionalizing a finance function.
  • Previous experience working within an SME with a revenue between £15m-£25m

Bonus Experience

  • Experience within the Waste Management, transport, logistics, or facilities.
  • Prior experience working in an investor firm owned business.

Day Rate: £500-£600 per day

Location: West Midlands (Birmingham), 1 day per fortnight in office.

Start date: ASAP

Contract Length: initially 6 months, potential extension thereafter.
