Become a pivotal part of one of the country’s foremost organisations by taking on the role of Head of Finance & Procurement. This position provides a unique chance to spearhead ongoing enhancements in finance and procurement operations, contribute to projects across the organisation, and play a crucial role in strategic decision-making at senior levels. As an integral member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will work in close partnership with other department heads and the Executive Leadership Team to steer the strategic course of the organisation and uphold legal standards.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Oversee strategic and operational finance and procurement responsibilities.
  • Accountable for all Section 151 responsibilities as per the Local Government Act 1972 and subsequent legislation.
  • Provide strategic financial and procurement advice and direction to Chief Executive Officer.
  • Lead the transformation and improvement of processes and services focusing on value for money and community satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement strategies that align with the organisation’s strategic objectives, ensuring sustainable and public-interest focused outcomes.
  • Maintain effective strategic leadership, focusing on the organisation’s purpose and vision through rigorous analysis and challenge.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Must possess an accountancy qualification or an equivalent certification.
  • Must have experience in Section 151 responsibilities in accordance with the Local Government Act 1972.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with leadership teams and engage across the organisation.
  • Experience in either the private or public sector, with a preference for backgrounds in Local Authorities or related non-profit organisations.

The successful candidates will manage significant budgets (circa £130m per annum), manage and implement continuous improvement strategies for finance and procurement functions.
