Head of Service for Care Leavers and Young People Seeking Asylum

Birmingham Children's Trust is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Head of Service to lead our team supporting care leavers and young people seeking asylum. This is a specialist role requiring significant experience in leaving care and the Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) system. Only candidates with proven Head of Service experience in these areas should apply.

About the Role:

As Head of Service, you will provide strategic leadership and management to a team of professionals dedicated to providing high-quality support and services to vulnerable young people. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing service strategies aligned with the needs of care leavers and young people seeking asylum.
  • Managing budgets and resources effectively.
  • Ensuring the provision of safe and effective services that meet the highest standards of care.
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders, including local authorities, partner organisations, and other agencies.
  • Monitoring and evaluating service performance, making necessary improvements.
  • Leading and developing a high-performing team.

Essential Criteria:

  • Significant experience as a Head of Service (or equivalent) within the leaving care sector.
  • Proven experience working with Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC).
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Relevant professional qualifications.
  • Experience of working within a Local Authority or similar organisation.

Salary: £500 per day
