Birmingham Children's Trust is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Head of Service to lead our team supporting care leavers and young people seeking asylum. This is a specialist role requiring significant experience in leaving care and the Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) system. Only candidates with proven Head of Service experience in these areas should apply.
About the Role:
As Head of Service, you will provide strategic leadership and management to a team of professionals dedicated to providing high-quality support and services to vulnerable young people. Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing service strategies aligned with the needs of care leavers and young people seeking asylum.
- Managing budgets and resources effectively.
- Ensuring the provision of safe and effective services that meet the highest standards of care.
- Building strong relationships with stakeholders, including local authorities, partner organisations, and other agencies.
- Monitoring and evaluating service performance, making necessary improvements.
- Leading and developing a high-performing team.
Essential Criteria:
- Significant experience as a Head of Service (or equivalent) within the leaving care sector.
- Proven experience working with Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC).
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.
Desirable Criteria:
- Relevant professional qualifications.
- Experience of working within a Local Authority or similar organisation.
Salary: £500 per day
