Job Title: Interim Nursing Home Manager

Job Overview:
Claire at Amber Mace is recruiting for an experienced interim Home Manager to oversee the daily operations of a nursing home in Birmingham. This role requires an individual with strong turnaround experience who can lead the home through significant improvements and prepare it for a CQC inspection. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of regulatory compliance, staff management, and a commitment to delivering high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day management of the nursing home, ensuring the highest standards of care for residents are consistently met.
- Lead the home through a comprehensive review and improvement process to ensure readiness for a successful CQC inspection.
- Implement necessary changes in line with CQC’s key lines of enquiry (KLOEs) to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Work closely with staff and senior leadership to drive a culture of continuous improvement and high standards of care.
- Conduct performance reviews, offer training, and provide support to ensure staff are motivated, skilled, and compliant with relevant policies and procedures.
- Monitor and assess the quality of care delivered to residents, addressing any areas of concern or improvement.
- Manage budgets, resources, and staffing levels to ensure the efficient operation of the home.
- Liaise with external stakeholders, including family members, healthcare professionals, and regulatory bodies.
- Act as the designated safeguarding lead, ensuring the home complies with all safeguarding procedures and policies.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Nursing Home Manager or similar leadership role, ideally within a turnaround setting.
- Strong understanding of CQC regulations and the inspection process, with experience preparing homes for successful inspections.
- A track record of successfully improving care home performance and delivering results in a short timeframe.
- Leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and lead a diverse team.
- A clear commitment to providing person-centred care and ensuring the safety and well-being of residents.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage relationships with staff, residents, families, and external agencies.
- A relevant nursing qualification (RGN or RMN) and current NMC registration.
- An understanding of financial management and budgeting in a care home environment.
Desirable:
- Experience with CQC inspections and achieving “Good” or “Outstanding” ratings.
