Accounts Assistant - Purchase Ledger

£28,000p/a

Immediate start available - Contract position - 11 months

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our clients finance team. This role is essential in maintaining the smooth running of purchase ledger, handling subcontractor accounts, and assisting in general accounts preparation.

Key Responsibilities:

Purchase Ledger:

  • Post supplier invoices against purchase orders
  • Reconcile supplier statements
  • Address supplier queries
  • Post nominal invoices
  • Create monthly supplier payment plans
  • Process weekly supplier payments and send remittances
  • Reconcile company credit cards and manage employee expenses
  • Handle petty cash expenses
  • Regularly review and reconcile unallocated payments

Construction Industry Scheme (CIS):

  • Post subcontractor invoices and reconcile accounts
  • Make payments to subcontractors
  • Handle monthly CIS submissions and issue CIS certificates

Accounts Preparation:

  • Post other bank payments such as direct debits and standing orders
  • Perform bank reconciliations, including petty cash
  • Conduct nominal analysis
  • Assist with monthly accounts preparation, including accruals and prepayments
  • Maintain the fixed asset register
  • Update cash flow with actual movements

Requirements:

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Experience in accounting or finance roles preferred
  • Familiarity with the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) is an advantage
