General Manager
Location: Birmingham area
Salary: 72,000 - 76,000 base salary, car and package

Summary:

This is a medium-sized logistics company with a mix of operations covering warehousing and transport. The company has a substantial national network and operates on behalf of a wide spectrum of clients. The company is profitable and has a heritage of good customer service and value for money.
This is very much an operationally focused position; one that will require you to dig deep into the daily activities of the business, whilst also developing a road map for a new direction. Client relationships are strong, and the company has a loyal customer base, but you will be required to work closely with partners to drive efficiencies and solidify these relationships.
The company needs an individual with considerable experience at Senior Management level who has a very strong ground in logistics operations. Ideally this experience would have been gained in a 3PL environment.

Key Responsibilities:

* To meet the challenges of this role you will need to be an accomplished operator who can take accountability for the day-to-day activities of managing a multi-client operation.
* In this role you will provide leadership to a business that is going through a period of growth and transition and be able to implement best practice working solutions.

* Key Skills/Experience:

* You will be used to driving and maintaining stringent KPIs that are linked to performance and profitability and will be instrumental in creating a productive, customer centric work ethos.

It goes without saying that the role calls for a financially astute individual whose excellent commercial acumen and proactive approach to cost control will improve the financial efficiencies of the site. You must have experience in open and closed book accounts. Experience of managing Bonded Warehouse HRMC/Customs is highly desirable.

* You will need to be a natural leader with the presence and charisma needed to manage and develop teams.
* In essence, we seek a solid logistics operator with a strong work ethic and the energy and tenacity to succeed in a fast- paced environment. Someone who is highly committed to delivering exceptional levels of customer service and can ensure that the operation is able to accommodate changing needs, seasonal trends and on-going growth and development.
* You must have managed complex operations with a staffing complement of at least 100 people.
